Statement

Ever since I can remember, traveling has always been an important part of my life. My incessant curiosity often takes me to the most unbelievable and contrasting situations in an almost naive excitement to understand everything. Led by chance, I have nothing but my language as my only home: the limits of my own reality.

Always going back and forth (from my diaries to the street and from experience to imagination), I have never ceased to be fascinated with the same concepts which are constantly present in my work: travel, death, friendship, the city, mythology, humor; always with an interdisciplinary/ephemeral approach.

In this wanderer, I’ve learned to blur the borders between art and life. Having not lived permanently in any one place, I had to adapt myself to different conditions where the most important thing aren’t the materials nor the space, but the improvisation and experimentation. That may be why I use and change mediums in such a cynical and sometimes even exaggerated way.

Bio

b. Comarca Lagunera, 1982

At 16 I moved to Xalapa, where I lived for eight years. After graduating from Universidad Veracruzana, majoring in Visual Arts and Mexican Literature, changed residence to Transylvania where I attended a Master’s Program in Painting at the University of Arts and Design.

Arising from my love to travel, I attended several art residencies in Slovakia, Romania, Serbia, Croatia and France, using my diaries (drawings, photos, maps) as a recurring topic in my oeuvre. I’ve got five solo shows in Mexico, London and Oslo and my work has been featured in numerous exhibitions in Mexico, Romania, France, Ukraine, Slovakia, and Serbia.

Any inquiries about freelance work, collaborative work and original art sales are welcome.
